Gloucester Masters Open Meet 2022
More than three years after our previous meet, we were finally able to hold our Open Meet on Sunday 7th August. Although we had slightly fewer entries than before, we still had plenty of support and many messages of thanks were received from people who really enjoyed the day, some of whom had not competed in a Masters event before and others who were grateful to be able to return to friendly competition.
Congratulations to Kalon Veale and Danielle Stirrat who both set new British Records. Kalon in the mens 30-34 50m backstroke in 25.94 and Danielle in the womens 25-29 100m backstroke in 1:04.51. We are also aware of some Regional, Welsh records and of course our own Meet records, of which 38 were broken.
Congratulations also go to our trophy winners:
The Best Team Shield was won by Warrington Masters Swimming Club, closely followed only one point behind by Tigersharks, and two points behind them were Totnes SC.
Danielle Stirrat (Cardiff Masters) won the Dave Langley Trophy for the best age adjusted female 50m backstroke.
Kalon Veale (Totnes) won the Dave Langley Trophy for the best age adjusted male 50m backstroke.
Jeanne Petit (Leicester Penguins) won the Carl Freeman Trophy for the best age adjusted female 50m Fly.
Graeme Milne (Carrick Masters) won the Carl Freeman Trophy for the best age adjusted male 50m Fly.
Many thanks go to our Officials and Volunteers, without whom we could not hold this competition. Over 100 medals were donated and we were able to support our chosen local charity ‘Focus’ with a donation of £105.
