GMSC Open Meet 2023 – General Information
1) Parking.
Parking around GL1 and in Station road is free on Sundays, however spaces are
limited.
There are a few car parks in the vicinity that charge £2 all day on Sundays.
Station Road car park.
Hampden Way and Old School Car parks (Off Wellington St.)
Don't park in ASDA, it is camera controlled.
2) Seating.
Most of the stand is closed. Only the first 3 rows may be used, together
with the seating on the opposite side of the pool.
Extra chairs will be also be available depending on where GL1 arrange them.
The Balcony is available and can be accessed via reception stairs and from the
changing village.
Please always wear suitable footwear when using the metal staircase from the
changing village.
There will be signs indicating access.
3) Breakout room.
We have use of the Diner, just beyond the cafe, from 9am to 3:30pm
This room may be used to relax in when you're not swimming.
It must be vacated by 3:30pm as it is booked for a childs party after
that time.
4) Start times.
Start times for each heat have been printed on the heat lists. This is to
help with congestion in Barton pool. HOWEVER the times are approximate
and it is still your responsibility to be at your lane on time.
5) Meet Mobile.
We hope to be able to stream live results on Meet Mobile. We have
not used this service before so please bear with us...

6) UK Emergency Alert.
On Sunday 23 April 2023 at 3pm, there will be a national test of the UK
Emergency Alerts service.

Conditions & Programme
- Closing date for entries: Midnight Sunday 2 April 2023
- All events shall be held under Swim England laws and technical rules as defined for masters’ events.
- Ages for the Masters Events will be as at 31 December 2023. Competitors in the Senior Age Group must have reached their 18th birthday by the day of the competition.
- A competitor must be a member of the club he/she represents and may only swim for one club during the competition.
- All competitors must
either be registered with Swim England as category 2 swimmers, Scottish
Swimming, Swim Wales equivalent, or have competitive membership of clubs
which belong to swimming federations affiliated to World Aquatics (FINA).
(Temporary Cat.2 membership of Swim England may be taken out via the on-line entry system.)

- Entries for this
meet will be held on a computer. As required by the Data Protection Act,
consent to the holding of personal information on computer will be deemed
to have been given by the submission of the entry. Personal data will be
available for inspection during the meet if advance application has been
made to the promoter.
- Any entries made
but not paid for at the closing date will be deemed to be invalid and may
not be accepted.
- Entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. We may need to limit entries to any event, in particular the 400m events, in order to keep to the time available. Where we close entries early, any entries made but not paid for at that time may not be accepted.
- All events will be seeded in time classification and decided on a heat declared winner basis.
- Over the top starts will be used, as required. There will be no secondary starting strobe in use, nor will there be any backstroke starting platforms.
- The entry fee will be £7 per event.
- No Events will require re-entry.
- We reserve the right to make any changes necessary for the smooth running of the meet.
- By entering you declare that to the best of your knowledge you are physically fit and able to compete and train in Masters Events and Training Sessions and have not been advised otherwise by a Medical Advisor. You therefore exonerate Swim England, Swim England South West, GMSC, Officials and Meet Organisers from any injury as a result of your medical condition. You also confirm that you are proficient in the execution, where necessary, of entry dives in accordance with Swim England recommendation.

Warm-ups 1 & 3 will be 45mins Mixed.
Warm-up 2 will be split Female / Male allowing 20 minutes for each.
Please be prompt for your warm up, leave the pool when requested, and be considerate to other swimmers.
Awards
Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd for each event in each age group.
Please collect these as soon as possible after the results have been published.
GMSC will make a donation of £1 to a charity of our choice, for each medal that is donated.
If you wish to donate your medal, please place it in the box provided.
The following Trophies will be awarded at the end of the meet:
· Best Team Shield (2022 winners – Warrington SC)
· The Carl Freeman Trophies (awarded to the best age adjusted 50 butterfly M & F)
· The Dave Langley Trophies (awarded to the best age adjusted 50 backstroke M & F)
